Got Theta?

Imagine being able to change the world with merely the power of your thoughts. Donna Aazura, founder of “Global Theta® Meditation for World Peace,” is convinced that her revolutionary concept of tapping into theta brainwaves can stop wars, violence, aggression and address whatever your ideal vision may be of a peaceful existence.

Contrary to what the name somewhat suggests, theta brainwaves are not a secret sisterly bond between Theta sorority girls. Aazura said the theta state is a very deep condition of relaxation where brainwaves are slowed to a frequency of 4-7 cycles per second. She explains that the theta state of mind is one which occurs during a dream, or when one begins to fall asleep.

This vastly differs from the hyperactive “beta state” of mind that occurs naturally when doing daily activity. The “in between” phase of the two is called the “alpha state.” This state is a frame of existence where humans are generally more relaxed, most commonly achieved while driving a car.

With a certain technique, Aazura claims that she can easily guide you into your theta brainwave existence, which she feels is the most, “powerful, healing and creative part of the mind.”

“It is a very powerful and creative brainwave that proves to be a gateway into the subconscious. Einstein's ‘E = mc2' came to him in theta sleep,” said Aazura.

Aazura's concept of Global Theta® Meditation for World Peace was spawned from her many years of experience as a practitioner in Advanced Theta Healing, a program that uses theta brainwaves to clear subconscious programming and help people create the reality they want.

“I've had a client come to me and say that one session was equivalent to 5 years of therapy,” she said. “I see results quickly.”

Aazura took things to the next step, less than 5 months ago, when the idea of using theta brainwaves for world peace came to her during meditation. She wanted to reach beyond the one-on-one office therapy sessions between her and personal clients. So, less than a month ago, she introduced to the world, “Global Theta® Meditation for World Peace” with the release of her self-guided meditation CD.

Accompanying her lecture is the pensive, instrumental composition of musician and fellow practitioner of theta healing, Sue Scudder. The rhythmic and calming tunes on the nine-track CD were all written and recorded by Scudder herself.

“It's very magical,” said Aazura.

Aazura's ambition is for people to visualize what they would like to see in a world of peace through a theta mind set.

“The goal is to have people around the world meditating at the same time. This is a heartfelt mission for me, when people meditate together - very powerful things can happen,” said Aazura.

Theta meditation is not the new hip, mode of deep thought du jour. In fact, delving into theta has been common among, Hindus, Bahais, Buddhists, Christians, Muslims and others for thousands of years. Aazura's meditative stance isn't the typical pretzel twist of limbs into unworkable positions - you can comfortably relax in a chair with your feet touching the floor while she takes you through a meditative process.

“It's very easy, people don't have to have meditated before,” she said. “There is no magical thing you need to know, there is no wrong way, it's impossible to mess up.”

If you're sold - or even a bit skeptical - and have some time to kill this Friday night, head over to the Denver Church of Religious Science for a free, guided instruction to your theta state of mind. Aazura said there is no relation to the Church's religious dogma. Her meditative lecture is part of a series honoring the 64-day event: the Gandhi-King-Chavez Season for Non-Violence, which celebrates non-aggressive activism.

The event starts at 7 P.M. and those attending the meditation will be part of a larger national meditation that takes place simultaneously in various parts of the country.

“I believe that if enough people can do this, we can make a tremendous impact moving towards a peaceful existence,” said Aazura.
